Hall of Honor
Tanner's dedication to the game showed great improvement over time from 2008 to 2011 as she improved her ERA from 4.17 as freshman to 3.00 during her sophomore campaign before she flourished over her final two seasons at Midwestern State.
Tanner enjoyed a breakout campaign as a junior going 22-3 in the circle with a 1.58 ERA powered by six shutouts. She twice earned LSC Pitcher of the Week honors on her way to garnering All-Lone Star Conference North Division second-team honors.
The Mustangs rolled to a 54-10 mark in 2010 and claimed the LSC North Division title with a 20-2 mark before bowing out of the NCAA Division II postseason to Angelo State in a three-game super regional series at Mustangs Park.
That season, Tanner also proved her prowess as a two-way player. The right-hander batter hit .275 with five doubles, three homers, and 22 RBIs to also earn All-LSC North acclaim as a designated player.
She continued to improve into a memorable senior season as the Mustangs surged to 54 more wins and advanced to the NCAA Division II Softball World Series for the first and only time in program history.
Tanner enjoyed her best season in the batter's box hitting .333 with seven doubles, five homers, and 20 RBIs.
She posted a 31-9 record with three saves and 1.45 ERA, ranking among the nation's best at any level with 14 shutouts while limiting the opposition to a .184 batting average. Tanner also recorded 361 strikeouts.
The accolades poured in. The Honda Woman of the Year finalist was also a National Fast-pitch Coaches' Association first-team All American and a Daktronics second-team All American. She earned Daktronics South Central Region Pitcher of the Year as well as the LSC North Division's top pitcher.
Tanner remains second on MSU's all-time career pitching lists with 71 wins, 21 shutouts, and 762 strikeouts.
