CANYON, Texas – Midwestern State Track & Field enjoyed five personal records and a new school record during the second day of the Lone Star Conference Championships.

Kyja Willis broke a school record in the 100-meter dash, as both Willis and
Kennedy Johnson qualified for the finals. The junior clocked 11.94 (7
th place) on the stopwatch, doing so in +1.7 legal wind. Willis posted just the second wind legal sub 12.00 time in program history, beating out the previous school record held by
Corinne Thorpe (11.97).
Kennedy Johnson posted a faster time (11.85, +2.7), setting an all-conditions personal best to take 5
th place in the prelims.

Jadyn Dangerfield led a trio of Mustangs to qualify for the 800 meters. The senior posted the third fastest mark in the prelims (2:11.62), while
Jessie Heath (2:15.26, 7
th) and
Maggie Neal (2:15.45, 8
th) both qualified directly after finishing in the top-2 of their heats. Despite missing the finals,
Sophia Lee posted a personal best in the event, racing to a 2:16.20 time. Lee's time moves into 7
th in the MSU all-time performance list.

Brianna Estrada and
Abby Cavender each finished with personal bests in their respective events. Estrada finished the 400 meters in 56.28, taking 12
th place and moving up to 4
th in the MSU all-time performance list. Cavender raced their fastest career time in the 400-meter hurdles, posting a time of 1:05.08. The time moves Cavender to 5
th in the MSU all-time performance list.

Rosalene Reyes Perez ended the evening scoring points in the 3000-meter steeplechase. The senior raced to 6
th place with a time of 12:08.47. Scoring three points in the event takes the Mustangs total to 19 points overall.

The Mustangs conclude the conference championships tomorrow afternoon, with eight finals, including a pair of relays.
Diana Kelley begins the competition in the High Jump at 1 p.m.
