Kennedy Johnson earned All-American honors at the 2026 NCAA DII Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Emporia, Kan. on Friday evening. The sophomore finished 14
th in the triple jump among the top competitors in Division II, earning the accolade for the first time in their career.

Johnson made history before stepping on the track, becoming the first Midwestern State student-athlete to qualify for the NCAA Championships in a field event. The sophomore earned their place in Emporia by setting a school record in the event earlier in the season (12.39m). The Euless, Texas was the final jumper in the first flight, and jumped to their best mark on their second attempt (12.03m, 39' 5.75"). Johnson leaped to identical distances in her first and third attempt (11.84m). Cal State-Los Angeles' Summer Stevenson claimed the national champion honor, setting a personal mark of 12.93m to win the event.
