PUEBLO, Colo. – Midwestern State finished sixth in the NCAA Division II West Region at Pueblo Country Club. The Mustangs finished 12 strokes behind UT Tyler for fifth place at 89-over 941 through 54 holes. The top five schools advance to the NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championship in Florida.
The Mustangs moved up three spots on the final day of competition with its best round of the three, shooting 27-over 311 in the final round.
Cal State San Marcos finished atop the team leaderboard at 55-over 907, defeating Dallas Baptist by seven strokes. Colorado State – Pueblo finished two strokes behind the Patriots and seven strokes ahead of St. Mary's as the Lone Star Conference had five schools among the top eight teams. West Texas A&M and Cal State Monterey Bay finished tied for seventh place at 90-over.
Ella Cheek of Dallas Baptist was the individual medalist in the 95-player field with a 3-over 216, eight strokes better than Avery Foster of Cal State San Marcos.
Romane Lacoste had the best result among the Mustangs, shooting 22-over 235 through three rounds and in a four-way tie for 30th place on the individual leaderboard. The junior from France shot 8-over 79 in the final round. Lacoste birdied the 341-yard, par-4 No. 1 hole for the second straight round and finished with four birdies during the tournament.
Alli Reily had the best round of the day for MSU with a 5-over 76 on Tuesday that included two birdies. Reily completed the tournament with five birdies. The senior from Pottsboro, Texas, moved up 14 spots on the individual leaderboard in the final round and finished in a three-way tie for 34th place at 23-over 236.
Mary Kerr birdied the 475-yard, par-5 11th hole for the second time in the tournament during her final round and finished at 9-over 80 on Tuesday. Kerr had five birdies through 54 holes and finished in a four-way tie for 41st place at 25-over 238.
Kodi Nolen shot 8-over on Tuesday and finished in an eight-way tie for 47th place at 26-over 239. She had three birdies during her final round and birdied the 475-yard, par-5 seventh hole for the second time during the tournament. Nolen had a team-leading seven birdies through 54 holes.
Emme Darnold was inserted as a substitute for the final round and shot 6-over 77 with two birdies. Madison Wert played the first 36 holes on Monday.
The Mustangs had the fourth-most birdies among the 18 teams in the field with 21, tied with UT Tyler and Westmont. Dallas Baptist had 32 birdies to lead the tournament.
Dallas Baptist took home the 2025 DII women's golf championship title, its third in the last five seasons, and this year's tournament championship will begin on Tuesday, May 12 and continue through Saturday, May 16 at the PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
