Kennedy Johnson re-wrote school history at the Joe Gillespie Invitational, breaking her own school record in the triple jump during the two day weekend meet.

Johnson set the record in win legal conditions (1.2) on her 5
th attempt, jumping 12.39m (40' 7.75). The distance is a NCAA Division II provisional mark, while being the furthest mark in the Lone Star Conference this season. Johnson added onto her impressive day as the fastest Mustang in the 100 meters (12.07, 7
th place) and 200 meters (24.91, 10
th place). The sophomore also ran the anchor leg of the 4x100 meter relay, as the team of
Karissa Nixon,
Kennedy DeHorney,
Hailee Janzen, and Johnson took 3
rd place with a time of 47.17. The relay time is the 8
th fastest time in MSU all-time performance list.

The Mustangs as a team impressed in the 1500 meters, with all six runner setting a personal best.
Grace Pineda raced to a personal best in the event (4:42.33, 4
th place), moving up to 4
th place in the MSU all-time performance list.
Ella Pando followed just behind (4:47.33, 6
th place), also entering MSU all-time performance list (8
th fastest).
Perla Flores (4:50.02, 8
th place),
Isabel Hernandez (4:57.35, 11
th place),
Jazira Perez (5:01.64, 13
th place), and

th place) all recorded personal records in the event.

In the middle distance events,
Maggie Neal took home 1
st in the 800 meters, racing to a season best time to take the win (2:13.36).
Jadyn Dangerfield was just behind Neal in second (2:14.59), while
Sophia Lee (2:17.72, 4
th place) and
Zulma Garcia (2:33.95, 14
th place) both set personal records.
Jessie Heath raced to an outdoor personal best in the 400 meters, crossing the line in second place with a 56.24s time.
Midwestern State returns to the track next weekend, traveling to Norman, Okla. for the OU O Ring Alumni Opener. The two-day meet will take place from Apr. 24 through Apr. 25 at John Jacobs Track & Field Complex.
