ABILENE, Texas -Â Midwestern State Track & Field began its outdoor season at the Wes Kittley Invitational, recording 17 personal bests over the two-day meet. The Mustangs also had several top-10 marks in program history rewritten in several events.

On Friday evening, the Mustangs began with the 1500 meters, as nine runners competed in the event.
Jadyn Dangerfield (4:43.82) and
Grace Pineda (4:44.97) both set personal best in the event, finishing second and third, respectively.
Ella Pando (5
th, 4:49.52, personal record),
Maggie Neal (8
th, 4:55.11), and
Perla Flores (9
th, 4:56.64, personal record) totaled five Mustangs in the top-nine of the event.

Kennedy Johnson finished the just short of the 100 meters school record, clocking a 12.00 personal record in the event. The sophomore was just three-hundredths of a second behind the school record set by
Corinne Thorpe last season (11.97). Just behind Johnson,
Karissa Nixon also set a personal best (12.06).

Jessie Heath also produced provision mark in the 800 meters, setting a personal best with a 2:11.21 to take 2
nd in the event. The time moves up to second all-time in the MSU outdoor performance list. Just behind Heath,
Jadyn Dangerfield also set a personal record, racing to third place with a 2:11.52.
Maggie Neal (2:14.18, 6
th) and
Grace Pineda (2:21.05, 9
th) both finished inside the top-10.

In the field events,
Diana Kelley jumped to a 1.50m (4"11") height, moving into 7
th for MSU all-time outdoor performance list. Johnson took home third place in the triple jump, leaping to a mark of 11.95m (39' 2.5").

The Mustangs had three relay teams in the top-6 of the meet, with MSU "A" (

Hallie Kogler,
Abby Cavender), finishing 3
rd with a time of 3:56.67.Â
Midwestern State returns to action next weekend, traveling to San Angelo, Texas for the David Noble Relays. The two-day meet will begin on Friday, Mar. 27, while wrapping up on Saturday, Mar. 28 at LeGrand Stadium in San Angelo, Texas.
