ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -Â Midwestern State Track & Field picked up points in team scoring on the opening day of the 2026 Lone Star Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship, including a podium finish at the Albuquerque Convention Center on Friday evening.

The Midwestern State Distance Medley Relay (DMR) team took home silver on the first night of the championship meet. The team of
Jadyn Dangerfield,
Jessie Heath,
Maggie Neal, and
Grace Pineda earned the accolade. The group clocked a 12:10.01, with West Texas A&M taking first place (11:49.15).

Jessie Heath began the day with a school record in the 400 meters, qualifying for the finals of the event tomorrow afternoon. Heath raced to a 55.37, setting a school record and a provisional mark in the event (also a personal best). Heath finished 8
th out of the 20 racers, snagging the final spot alongside the seven heat winners.

Jadyn Dangerfield and
Maggie Neal both advanced to the finals of the 800 meters. Dangerfield set a new personal best in the event (2:11.80), moving to 3
rd in MSU Indoor All-Time Performance List. Neal finished in the top two of her heat to earn automatic progression into the final, posting a time of 2:13.99, while
Hallie Kogler finished 13
th (2:27.42).

Kennedy Johnson and
Kennedy DeHorney both posted PR's in the 200 meters, with Johnson qualifying for the final. Johnson (24.83) and DeHorney (24.98) each ran the 2
nd and 3
rd fastest times in the event in the MSU Indoor Performance List. Johnson won her heat, earning a spot in the finals tomorrow afternoon.
The Mustangs produced three strong performance's in the 5000 meters, with
Ella Pando crossing the line in 5
th to score points for the Mustangs (18:25.51).
Perla Flores followed for the Mustangs in 10
th (19:18.26), while
Isabel Hernandez posted a 19:33.09 mark to take 13
th place.

In the 60-meter hurdles,
Shalisa Williams raced to her second sub-nine second mark of the season (8.98), taking 10
th and missing finals qualification by six one-hundredths of a second. During the 60-meter dash,
Kennedy DeHorney posted a personal best (7.80), setting a career mark by one-hundredth of a second.
Kennedy Johnson (7.76, 13
th) and
Karissa Nixon (7.78, 17
th) both also raced in the 60-meter dash.
Midwestern State continue to compete in the championship on Saturday, with the first events beginning at 11:30 a.m. local time.
