NORMAN, Okla. – Midwestern State Track & Field had solid performances in the Owen Hewett Invitational at Mosier Indoor Facility on Friday. The Mustangs competed against several Division I opponent, including Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Incarnate Word and East Texas A&M, along with Lone Star Conference opponents DBU and Oklahoma Christian.

Overall, the Mustangs picked up 13 personal bests during the meet, while four individuals were top finishers in their event.
Kennedy Johnson recorded a personal best in the Women's 200m, winning the open section with a time of 25.49s. Additionally, Johnson competed in all the jumps event, hitting a provisional mark in the triple jump invite section (11.77m, 3
rd), recording a personal best in the long jump open section (5.09), and recording their first collegiate mark in the high jump open section (1.40m).

Hailee Janzen provided a season best time in the 200m, winning the invite section of the event with a time of 25.37s. The sophomore held off five Division I competitors and a pair of teammates (
Karissa Nixon, 25.96, and
Christasia Jones, 27.09) to take first, winning the final heat with an indoor personal best.
Jessie Heath also claimed top spot in their race, winning 800m invite section with a time of 2:16.49. Fellow Mustangs,
Grace Pineda (2:18.79, 2
nd) and
Ella Pando (2:24.60, 4
th) were not far behind as both finished with a personal best in the event.

In the 400m open section,
Hallie Kogler ran an indoor personal best time (1:03.97) to win the section. During the 400 meter invite section,
Jadyn Dangerfield grabbed 3
rd with a time of 59.88, and
Maggie Neal also took third place during the mile invite section, hitting a personal best time only trailing a pair of Incarnate Word runners (5:26.76).

In sprints,
Christasia Jones clocked PR in preliminary round of the 60m open section, only to record a faster time in the finals. Jones qualified for the finals with an 8.10 time winning their heat, then claimed sixth in the finals with a personal best time of 8.05.
Shalisa Williams was alongside Jones in the prelims, hitting a career best time of 8.26 in the 60 meters.
Kennedy DeHorney also hit a PR in the 60m, competing in the invite section and finishing with a 7.81 mark.

Midwestern had three 4x400-relay teams to wrap the meet, with all three finishing in the top-5. Team 'A", made up of Neal, Dangerfield, Janzen, and Nixon, took second with a time of 4:02.24, only finishing behind Division I Incarnate Word (3:55.31). The Mustangs Team 'B' finshed just behind their teammates, with Heath, Jones, Williams, and Kolger clocking a time of 4:04.46. The final group of Mustangs, Team 'C': DeHorney,
Abby Cavender,
Jackie Earley, and Pineda, produced a 4:17.27 time to claim fifth.
The Mustangs return to Norman next weekend, competing in the JD Martin Invitational. The single-day meet is set to for Friday Jan. 23rd at the Mosier Indoor Facility.
