WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Eight Midwestern State student-athletes earned All-Lone Star Conference honors as released Thursday by league officials.
Nidhi Singh and
Ella Pando garnered second-team honors, while
Trell'Kyrah Watkins,
Rosalene Reyes Perez,
Maggie Neal,
Kennedy Johnson, and
Jessie Heath were on the third team.
Singh, a senior from Thane, India, had a silver-medal finish in the 800-meter run with a school record time of 2:07.01, while also helping the Mustangs to a third-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay on her way to posting 9.5 points.
The rest of the 4x400-meter squad of Heath, Watkins, and Neal were named to the third team.
Pando, a junior from Weatherford, Texas, used a personal best time of 37:16.63 to claim a bronze medal i the 10,000-meter run, and also placed sixth at 5,000 meters with a time of 18:04.44 to finish with nine points to garner second-team mention.
Watkins, a junior from Dallas, also finished third in the 400-meter hurdles with a school record time of 1:00.60, while Neal, a freshman from Krum, placed fourth in the 800-meter run with a PR time of 2:11.76.
Reyes Perez combined a fourth-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and a seventh-place showing in the 10,000-meter run to score seven points to earn third-team mention. The junior from McKinney, Texas, recorded PRs in both events going for an 11:40.16 in the steeplechase and a time of 38:44.01 in the 10,000.
Johnson, a freshman from Euless, Texas, landed a personal best mark of 39 feet, 8 inches to take bronze in the triple jump.
Midwestern State amassed 65 points and finished fourth out of 11 teams at the Lone Star Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships earlier this month in Portales. The Mustangs improved 22 points over their previous high set in 2024.
The All-Lone Star Conference first team consists of event winners, including all members of the winning relay teams and athletes scoring 14-or-more points at the LSC Championships. The second team consists of all members of the second-place relay teams and athletes scoring 8-13.9 points. The third team consists of all members of the third-place relay teams and athletes scoring 6-7.9 points.
