Robertson sets school record, makes more history for Mustangs at LSC Outdoor Championships

LUBBOCK, Texas -- Midwestern State's Asia Robertson made more history on opening night of the Lone Star Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships Thursday at LCU Track & Soccer Facility.

The senior from Allen set a school record, while also becoming the first Mustang to qualify for the conference finals in the 200-meter dash. She was the first MSU student-athlete to qualify for the 100-meter finals finishing eighth in 2022.

Robertson finished third in the second heat of the 200-meter preliminaries with a wind legal time of 24.43 (+0.7), shaving 0.39 seconds off of her previous best time of 24.82 as she finished behind West Texas A&M's Jordan Brown (24.08) and Alana Wilson (24.21).

MSU sophomore Corinne Thorpe also recorded a personal best time by placing 15th overall with a 25.03 (+0.9) which stands as the second fastest time in program history. Thorpe improved on a wind-aided time of 25.08 set earlier this season at the East Texas Invitational.

Freshman Steveanna Hearn clocked a PR time 25.24 to place 16th overall which ranks 10th on MSU's all-time list.

Senior Peyton Lewis scored the first team point for the Mustangs by finishing eighth in the triple jump with a mark of 37 feet, 7 1/4 inches, while freshman Rylie Tipton finished 15th with a personal best mark of 35 feet, 6 inches.

Senior Alexandra Feller added a second point for MSU by finishing eighth in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 40:14.77, while Mariana Sanchez (41:32.70) was 12th, Sydney MacDonald (43:07.22) was 17th, and Rosalene Reyes Perez (43:47.34) was 19th.

Sophomore Arianna Carballeira (5:01.77) and freshman Ella Pando (5:08.69) finished 13th and 16th, respectively, in the 1,500-meter preliminaries.

Midwestern State competes in all five running events on Friday beginning at 6:30 p.m., while women's high jump begins at 5.
