RICHARDSON, Texas – Midwestern State has turned in a school record seven consecutive clean sheets to start the season and improved to 7-0-0 with its 2-0 win over Texas A&M International at Stang Park on Wednesday night. The Mustangs are on the road seeking a fourth straight win in conference play as they meet UT Dallas on Saturday night at UTD Soccer Complex. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Sloane Sullivan scored in the fifth minute, and Bella Rose scored off a corner kick in the 39th minute as the Mustangs handled the Dustdevils in their last game. Lauren Short made two saves in the second half as Midwestern State kept its record unblemished and extended its home unbeaten streak to 25 games.

Midwestern State has not allowed an opponent to put more than five shots on goal in any of their last 26 games.

The Mustangs have outscored their opponents, 23-0, and have the best goal differential among NCAA Division II programs. MSU has scored the second-most goals among conference teams and the sixth most goals in the nation. The Stangs are scoring 3.3 goals per game, which is third-most in the LSC and ninth in the country.

Fourteen different players have scored a goal this season for the Mustangs with Lexi Gonzales and Sullivan leading the team with three goals apiece. Madison Brinkley, Ashlynn Knight, Binky Mendez, McKynzi Hailey and Bella Pillow have all scored twice. Leeci Snyder, Ella Adams, Izzy Amphlett, Morgan Countryman, Allie Cifuentes, Sophie Ferro and Rose have all scored once this season.

Gonzales and Snyder lead the team with four assists, and Sullivan has three assists. Brinkley, Adams, Amphlett, Countryman, Marelne Myrvold and Ashley Novotny all have two assists. Four players have one assist: Knight, Mendez, Rose and Jimena Rodriguez. 

Midwestern State leads the nation with 25 assists this season, and its 3.6 assists per game is fifth in the nation — second among LSC teams. 

Gonzales leads the Mustangs with 10 points, and Sullivan has nine points. Snyder and Brinkley both have six points through seven matches. Midwestern State has 71 total points, which is second most in the country and leads the LSC. MSU is sixth in the nation and third in the LSC with 10.1 points per match.

Midwestern State is one of six NCAA Division II programs that has not conceded a goal this season. Short is one of nine goalkeepers in the nation with a save percentage of 1.000. Short has made 13 saves and has made two or fewer saves in five games this season.

Taryn Sueltz scored in the 58th minute, and Snyder assisted on the game winning goal in the 65th minute as the Mustangs defeated UT Dallas 2-1 last season and improved its record in the all-time series to 2-0-0. The first meeting was at UTD in 1995, and MSU prevailed 8-1.

UT Dallas (5-1-1, 1-1-1) shut out its first six opponents, but the Comets are coming off a 4-2 loss at St. Mary's. UTD is 0-0-1 at home this season after opening conference play with a 0-0 draw against Angelo State. 

The Comets have outscored opponents 17-4 this season and the plus-13 goal differential is 19th best in the country. UTD is averaging 2.4 goals per game and has been putting 8.9 shots on goal per outing.

Gabby Thompson is the leading goal scorer for the Comets with four this season, including a goal in the 4-2 to St. Mary's on Wednesday night. Jules Chavez has three goals and two assists and is tied with Thompson for the team lead with eight points. Ella Spiller has two goals and two assists for the Comets.

Goalkeeper Melyna Martinez has played all 630 minutes for UTD and has a save percentage of .833 with a goals-against average of 0.57. Martinez has made 20 saves this season and faced 52 shots. 

Midwestern State travels to Lubbock Christian on Sept. 23. Kickoff at LCU Soccer and Track Facility is scheduled for 7 p.m. The Mustangs return home on Sept. 26 as Texas Woman's visits Stang Park at 7 p.m.
