AUSTIN, Texas – Midwestern State Track & Field split their efforts this weekend, with athletes competing in two different meets in south Texas. A small contingent of Mustangs took part in the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos, Texas, while a handful of athletes competed in the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas.

The Mustangs relay teams took center stage, with notable performances in the 1600m sprint medley, 4x400 meter relay, and 4x800 meter relay at the Texas Relays. In the 4x400m, the team of
Karissa Nixon,
Maggie Neal,
Jadyn Dangerfield, and
Jessie Heath raced to a season best time 3:49.35. The mark is 22
nd fastest in Division II this season, but also is the 4
th fastest time in program history.

Midwestern capped their other relay performances with school records. In the 4x800 meter relay,
Jessie Heath,
Maggie Neal,
Grace Pineda, and
Jadyn Dangerfield crushed the existing school record by 58 seconds, posting a 9:00.47 time in the event. Additionally, MSU competing in the 1600 sprint medley for the first time (based on available records), as
Kennedy Johnson,
Karissa Nixon,
Jessie Heath,
Maggie Neal took 6
th in the event (3:57.68).

Ella Pando raced in the 10,000 meters, taking third place (37:23.37) in the event behind North Texas' Ximena Lopez (35:06.62) and Texas Tech's Jenna Carter (36:06.31). In the 800m,
Jadyn Dangerfield (2:12.57) and
Maggie Neal (2:14.61) were both in the top-15 of a competitive field.

At the Bobcat Invitational,
Kennedy Johnson,
Kennedy DeHorney, and
Karissa Nixon were fast in the sprints. DeHorney posted a personal best in the both the 100m (12.16) and 200m (24.85, 2.6w), moving into top-10 times in MSU performance list for 200m. Johnson raced to a personal best in both events, 100m – 12.00, 4
th and 200m – 24.14 (2.6w), 2
nd, while Nixon raced to a 12.15 mark in the 100m.

Grace Pineda improved their career best time in the 1500m, crossing the line in 4:43.62. The mark moved Pineda up into 7
th for the MSU outdoor performance list.
Midwestern State return to the track on Apr. 17-18, has they are scheduled to compete in the Bill Schmidt Invite, hosted by North Texas.
