ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Midwestern State Track & Field travels west to the Land of Enchantment, as they compete in the 2026 Lone Star Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Albuquerque Convention Center. The two-day meet will take place from February 27-28.

The Mustangs enter the meet after breaking two school records at the 11
th Annual Russ Jewett Indoor Gorilla Classic at the Robert W. Plaster Center.
Shalisa Williams broke the school record in the 60-meter hurdles for the second time this season, racing to an 8.96 mark. The Mustangs also set a new record in the distance medley relay (DMR), shattering a record that had stood for 12 years. The team of

Jessie Heath,
Maggie Neal, and
Grace Pineda recorded a time of 11:45.41, setting a DII provisional mark in the process.
This weekend, the Mustangs will face a nine conference opponents, with West Texas A&M looking to win their 13
th LSC Indoor Championship in a row. The Lady Buffs rank 3
rd in the nation based on the Division II Track & Field Ranking Index (TFRI). UT Tyler is expected to challenge, sitting 15
th in the TFRI, while Texas A&M-Kingsville are 39
th.

Midwestern State have 14 athletes and two relay teams competing in the championships this weekend across 11 events. Friday evening will feature the first phase of multi's, five preliminary track events, along with two finals on track, with five field events, while Saturday will have eight track finals, and three field events.

Ella Pando,
Perla Flores, and
Isabel Hernandez will race in the 5000m Friday night, while the DMR team of Dangerfield, Heath, Neal, and Pineda will compete in the final event of the day. The Mustangs will have several athletes competing in the prelims of the 60mh, 400m, 60m, 800m, and 200m.

Kennedy Johnson and
Kennedy DeHorney will both race in the 60m and 200m, while
Karissa Nixon will join the pair in the 60m. Three Mustangs will compete in the prelims of the 800m with Neal, Dangerfield, and
Hallie Kogler competing in the event. Williams will represent the Mustangs in the 60mh and Heath in the 400m. Finals for each of the events will take place the following day.

Diana Kelley and Johnson will compete for the Mustangs in two field events on Saturday, as Kelley will compete in the high jump, while Johnson will take part in the triple jump. MSU will race in a pair of distance finals, with three competitors in both the mile and 3000m.
Isabel Hernandez will take on both disciplines, with Pineda and
Jazira Perez also competing in the mile. Pando and Flores will race in the 3000m alongside Hernandez, while the 4x400 meter relay team of DeHorney, Neal, Dangerfield, and Heath will round out the championship meet.
