PITTSBURG, Kan. – Midwestern State Track & Field heads back to Pittsburg State for the second time this season, competing in the 11th Annual Russ Jewett Indoor Gorilla Classic this Friday and Saturday at the Robert W. Plaster Center.

The Mustangs enter the meet after a strong performance in the Oklahoma Classic, recording six personal records, winning five events, and hitting three provisional marks.
Grace Pineda set a personal bests in both the mile and 3000 meters, winning the 3K and placing second in the mile.

Jessie Heath and
Jadyn Dangerfield both finished 1-2 in the 800, with each reaching a provisional mark in the event.
Karissa Nixon recorded the top time in the 200 meters, hitting a season best mark of 25.89.
This weekend, the Mustangs will face a competitive field at PSU, with 35 teams heading to the meet. MSU will see Lone Star Conference foe's UT Dallas, St. Edward's, DBU, and UT Tyler. The program will compete in 10 different events over the two-day event.

Midwestern State will have their first attempt at the distance medley relay this season, with the team of Dangerfield, Heath,
Maggie Neal, and Pineda taking on the challenge. In the 4x400 relay,
Hailee Janzen, Neal, Dangerfield, and Heath will compete for the Mustangs. For field events,
Diana Kelley will look to break their own school record in the high jump, while
Kennedy Johnson will hope to do the same in the triple jump.

Shalisa Williams will represent the Mustangs in the 60-meter hurdles, while
Karissa Nixon,
Kennedy DeHorney, and Johnson will race in the 60-meter dash. The trio of Nixon, DeHorney, and Johnson will also compete in the 200 meters, with Janzen joining the MSU competitors.

For the distance events,
Jazira Perez,
Isabel Hernandez,
Perla Flores, and
Ella Pando will race in the 3000 meters, while
Rosalene Reyes Perez runs for the Mustangs in the 5000 meters. Pando set the school record for both events at Pittsburg State earlier this season. As for the mile, Flores, Hernandez, Pando, and Pineda will make a 64-athlete field, broken up into four sections.

Four Mustangs will race in the open section of the 400 meters (DeHorney, Heath, Janzen, and Nixon). The Mustangs wrap up their entries with four in the 800 meters; Dangerfield, Heath,
Hallie Kogler, and Neal.
