WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State plays its home opener against UT Dallas on Saturday afternoon. Kickoff against the Lone Star Conference newcomer is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Stang Park.
Midwestern State (0-1-3) is still in pursuit of the elusive first win after settling for a 1-1 draw in their conference opener at Texas A&M International on Wednesday night.
Midwestern State outshot the Dustdevils in a scoreless first half, 8-0, but
Lillia Besedin broke through with a goal in the 49
th minute to give the Mustangs a 1-0 lead.
The Mustangs held that advantage until the final minute of the match, when TAMIU got its first shot on goal and made it count as Valeria Olivas Maldonado scored just 12 seconds from full time.
The Mustangs have conceded a goal in the final 10 minutes of all four matches this season.
Millie Butler scored in the 83
rd minute as Southern Nazarene pulled even in the season opener and tied MSU, 2-2.
After the Mustangs rallied from a two-goal deficit, McKenna Wright scored in the 89
th minute, and Ouachita Baptist defeated Midwestern State, 3-2.
Caleah Carter scored the equalizer in the 82
nd minute, and Midwestern State departed Central Oklahoma with a 2-2 draw.
Midwestern State is outshooting its opponents this season, 76-39, and leads the conference with 19 shots per game. However, the Mustangs are 12
th in the LSC in shot accuracy, putting just 32.9 percent of their attempts on goal.
Junior midfielder
Marlene Myrvold has put four of her five shots on goal and leads the team with two goals this season. Myrvold scored the first goal of the season in the 11
th minute at Southern Nazarene, and she gave the Mustangs a 2-1 lead at Central Oklahoma with a goal in the 71
st minute.
Morgan Countryman leads Midwestern State with two assists. The freshman forward assisted on Myrvold's first goal of the season, and she set up freshman
Abbey Lee's goal in the 88
th minute at Ouachita Baptist as MSU briefly overcame a 2-0 deficit in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
The Mustangs are fourth in the league with seven total assists and 1.75 assists per game.

Sloane Sullivan have all recorded assists in the first four matches.
Munoz and Brinkley each have a goal and an assist for the Stangs.
Freshman midfielder
Jasmine Montgomery has placed two of her three shots on frame and scored her first collegiate goal at Ouachita Baptist in the 67
th minute.
Midwestern State is seventh in the LSC with 21 total points, and freshmen have contributed six of those points.

Lauren Short and sophomore
Tanner Sorenson have each played two full games in goal for the Mustangs.
Short is 0-1-1 with five saves and a 2.50 goals-against average. Sorenson is 0-0-2 with a 1.50 goals-against average, and she made two saves against Central Oklahoma.
Midwestern State has not faced UT Dallas since their lone encounter in Richardson, Texas, 30 years ago when MSU dismantled the Comets, 8-1. Becky Athey finished with a hat trick while Stephanie Keiser and Jennifer Fisher each scored twice. Amy Cockrill had a goal and three assists in the victory.
UT Dallas is 4-0-1 to start the season and introduced itself to the conference with a 3-2 victory over St. Mary's in the LSC opener on Thursday night at UTD Soccer Complex. Grace Pritchard scored twice, including the game-winning goal in the 80
th minute as the Comets overcame a 2-1 deficit.
Senior forward Chelsea Vilca is the leading goal scorer for the Comets with six goals. Vilca has scored at least once in four of the five matches and has a pair of two-goal games for UTD in its inaugural season as a member of the LSC.
Junior Gabby Thompson has five goals for the Comets, and she picked up her first two assists of the season in the win over St. Mary's on Wednesday night.
Thompson scored twice in a 5-0 win over Oklahoma Baptist and had two goals in the Comets 5-3 triumph at Western Colorado. Thompson scored the only goal UTD needed to defeat Colorado Christian in Lakewood, Colorado.
Thompson has at least two points in all but one game – a 1-1 draw at Rogers State on Sept. 6.
Pritchard, a freshman defender, has three goals and an assist to begin her collegiate career at UT Dallas.
Senior goalkeeper McKenzie Hunninghake has played the full 90 minutes in all five matches for the Comets. She has conceded six goals for a 1.20 goals-against average with two clean sheets and a save percentage of .700 to start the season.
Midwestern State returns to Stang Park for a showdown under the lights with Lubbock Christian on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
