WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Junior
Bella Pillow from Wichita Falls was named the Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week after scoring a pair of game-winning goals to start the season for Midwestern State.
Pillow headed in a fifth-minute goal, assisted by
Lexi Gonzales, at Oklahoma Baptist and propelled the Stangs to a 5-0 victory in the season opener at OBU Soccer Complex in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Pillow's goal was the first of three goals in the opening eight and a half minutes for the Mustangs in the win over the Bisons.
Pillow chalked up another early goal in the home opener three days later.
Bella Rose assisted Pillow as Gonzales delivered a corner kick that created havoc in front of Ouachita Baptist goalkeeper Dominique Klujian. Midwestern State outshot the Tigers 24-3 and limited Ouachita Baptist to just one shot on goal in a 2-0 triumph.
Pillow scored the first two goals of her Midwestern State career and played all 90 minutes in both shutouts for the Stangs.
