AUSTIN -- Midwestern State set a pair of school records while setting three personal bests over the weekend at the 97th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays and the Texas State Bobcat Invitational.
MSU senior
Nidhi Singh finished eighth with an NCAA provisional qualifying and school outdoor record time of 2:07.77 in the invitational section of the 800-meter run, finishing third among NCAA Division II competitors.
West Texas A&M freshman Abigail Abugire won the section with a time of 2:04.89, while Academy of Art senior Lina Hanich placed fifth with a time of 2:05.78.
Singh also teamed with
Jessie Heath,
Trell'Kyrah Watkins, and
Maggie Neal to set a school record with an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time of 3:44.47 in the 4x400-meter relay on Friday.
The squad, which placed 16th in the timed final event, finished third in the sixth heat behind Arkansas (3:32.78) and Long Beach State (3:43.63).
The time was the second fastest among Division II entrants as West Texas A&M placed third with a time of 3:39.56.
MSU junior
Ella Pando placed eighth in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 37:34.30. She finished second among Division II competitors, behind West Texas A&M junior Lexi Maul (36:16.03/4th).
Midwestern State's
Corinne Thorpe,
Karissa Nixon,
Jessie Heath, and
Hailee Janzen combined to finish second in the timed finals of the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 47.22.
The Mustangs finished fifth as the only Division II competitors in the distance medley relay with a time of 11:49.24. The squad consisted of
Jadyn Dangerfield,
Jaycee Lyons, Neal, and Singh.
Meanwhile, at the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos, freshman
Maggie Neal claimed a PR time of 2:12.01 in the 800-meter run to take fifth. The mark stood as the program's outdoor record until Singh surpassed it later that night at the Texas Relays.
Senior
Daiza Jones finished third in the B Section of the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.92, while freshman
Grace Pineda set a personal record to finish 16th with 5,000-meter run at 18:20.29.
