ROME, Georgia – Selin Sepken completed her run at the 2025 ITA Cup with a 2-1 record after defeating Vasilissa Kupriyanova in her third match of the tournament at Rome Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.
Sepken, who won the South Central Regional without dropping a set in six matches to earn an automatic bid to the ITA Cup, prevailed in a three-setter against the North Georgia sophomore from Russia, 4-6, 7-6 (2), 6-3.
The native of Istanbul, Turkey, who transferred to MSU from Idaho as a graduate student, lost her first-round match in the exclusive 16-player draw to Eleanor Coleman of Rockhurst, 6-4, 2-6, 6-2.
Sepken rebounded on Friday with a 6-2, 6-7 (4), 6-2 win over Lilie Bizouerne of Queens (NY) in the consolation bracket.
Emilia Gyorgy and
Camila Garcia also went 2-1 in the doubles event. Gyorgy/Garcia defeated Rin Igarashi and Sofia Antolini of Catawba on Saturday for their second win at the ITA Cup.
On Friday, Gyorgy/Garcia earned a straight-set victory over the Slippery Rock pairing of Alissia Aleksandra Kivi and Nicole Kempton, 7-5, 6-2.
The duo was eliminated from the main draw on Thursday with a 6-3, 2-6, 4-10 loss to fourth-seeded Daniela Tijaro and Renske Ubachs of Washburn.
Midwestern State begins the dual season in February.
