ROME, Georgia – Selin Sepken earned a victory in the 2025 ITA Cup on Friday afternoon. Sepken rebounded from her loss in the main draw on Thursday to defeat Lilie Bizouerne in the consolation bracket on Friday.
Sepken won the South Central Regional without dropping a set in six matches to earn an automatic bid to the ITA Cup.
In her first-round match on Thursday, Sepken fell in three sets to Eleanor Coleman of Rockhurst, 6-4, 2-6, 6-2.
On Friday, Sepken met Bizouerne of Queens (NY), who lost her first-round match in straight sets to Natasha Sengphrachanh of Grand Valley State.
Sepken won the first set in routine fashion on Friday before Bizouerne pulled out a win in the second-set tiebreak. Sepken duplicated her effort from the first set in the decisive third set to win the match 6-2, 6-7 (4), 6-2.
The native of Istanbul, Turkey, who transferred to MSU from Idaho as a graduate student, is scheduled to play Vasilissa Kupriyahnova of North Georgia on Saturday.
Emilia Gyorgy and
Camila Garcia also prevailed in their doubles match on Friday.
The duo was eliminated from the main draw on Thursday with a 6-3, 2-6, 4-10 loss to fourth-seeded Daniela Tijaro and Renske Ubachs of Washburn.
Gyorgy/Garcia earned a straight-set victory on Friday over the Slippery Rock pairing of Alissia Aleksandra Kivi and Nicole Kempton, 7-5, 6-2.
On Saturday, Gyorgy/Garcia will meet Rin Igarashi and Sofia Antolini of Catawba.
