PORTALES, New Mexico -- Midwestern State is one of three teams unbeaten in conference play and travels to Eastern New Mexico for its next Lone Star Conference fixture. Kickoff at Al Whitehead Field at Steve Loy Family Foundation Stadium is scheduled for Wednesday night at 8 p.m. CDT.
The Mustangs are 2-0-2 against conference opponents and boasting a 6-1-2 record for the season after playing Texas Woman's and Angelo State to a pair of 2-2 draws last week.
Madison Brinkley scored her sixth goal of the season against the Rambelles on Saturday and has the second-most goals scored in the LSC this season.
Cassidy Savoy scored the equalizer at TWU last Wednesday and is fourth in the conference with five goals this season. Savoy and
Nyxalee Munoz each have two game-winning goals for the Mustangs this season.
The Mustangs are without
Allessandra Romano, who suffered a season-ending injury in the match at TWU. The senior from Whitby, Canada, had five assists in eight matches this season and is leading the conference in assists.
Lexi Beck has three assists, including on the Brinkley goal against Angelo State to tie the match, 1-1, on Saturday at Stang Park.
Midwestern State has outscored the opposition this season, 20-10.
Allison Dellis boasts the third-best save percentage in the LSC at .836, and she leads the conference with 51 saves this season. The sophomore from Denton, Texas, is sixth in the conference with a goal-against average of 1.11.
The Mustangs won their last three meetings with ENMU, including a 5-0 victory at Stang Park last season, when Beck finished with two goals and an assist.
Midwestern State leads the all-time series, 18-9-3, and is 8-4-2 when visiting the Greyhounds. MSU earned a 3-0 victory at Portales in 2022 as Savoy scored twice for the Stang Gang.
Eastern New Mexico has not scored in its last three meetings with the Mustangs, and the Greyhounds have been shutout in three of their last four matches overall.
Eastern New Mexico is coming off a 2-0 loss to UT Tyler and fell to 1-3-0 in conference play with a 2-5-2 record overall. Eastern New Mexico has been outscored this season, 14-3, and has conceded seven goals in each half.
ENMU has scored 1-0 victories at Western Colorado and Sul Ross this season. The Greyhounds have been shutout four times.
Mariana Gonzalez Jimenez, Meghann Wingsutton, and Gaia Chies have scored goals for the Greyhounds this season.
Goalkeeper Rosie Willmott Joyce of Eastern New Mexico has a 1.86 GAA with a .774 save percentage.
ENMU is 1-3-1 at home this season, while Midwestern State is 2-1-1 on the road.
MSU returns to Stang Park on Saturday morning for an 11 a.m. match with UT Tyler, which enters the week with a 7-1-1 record and is 2-1-1 in conference play this season.
