Escontrias, Jones lead Mustangs at season opening Crimson & Gold Invitational

PITTSBURG, Kansas -- Midwestern State made strides toward the top of numerous program performance lists in the indoor season opening Crimson & Gold Invitational Saturday at the Robert W. Plaster Center.

Sophomore Nathalia Escontrias led the way with a third-place showing in her signature 800-meter event delivering a PR time of 2:16.95 which landed second on MSU's all-time indoor list narrowing her gap to 1.53 second behind record hold Ana Lopez, who clocked in a 2:15.42 in 2014.

Freshman Jadyn Dangerfield Moore placed seventh in the 800-meter competition with a time of 2:20.27, which rated seventh on the program's all-time performance list.

Meanwhile, sophomore Daiza Jones posted an indoor personal best time of 58.52 to take sixth in the 400-meter dash. Her time was just .09 seconds off the program's top indoor mark set last season by Tyshi Reynolds.

Junior Sydni Lewis ran a 60-flat to move to fifth on the all-time list finishing 13th, while freshmen Da'Shrana Sims (1:00.72) and Trell'Kyrah Watkins (1:00.78) also landed amongst the program's Top 10 by taking 20th and 22nd place.
