WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- After a 0-0 tie on Wednesday night at Oklahoma Christian, Midwestern State (5-2-2, 2-0-2 LSC) and Stang Park play host to Texas A&M International (1-9, 0-5 LSC). In a weekend Lone Star Conference match up, the two teams kick off at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 9 in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Randi Heaton remains the top scorer for the Mustangs with her three goals and six points. The Westminster, Colo. native landed game-winning goals in overtime victories at East Central (9/18) and St. Mary's (10/02). Against the Tigers, Heaton notched her goal in the last 18 seconds to play while claiming the game-winner at StMU in the first four minutes of OT. The midfielder recorded her first goal in Midwestern State's 3-1 win over Regis (9/12). In 622 minutes on the pitch, Heaton has seven shots with six landing on frame for a 0.857 shot on goal percent. The senior amounted five goals and one assist for 11 points in her career. She adds 28 shots with 17 on goal with three game winners in 3,927 minutes.
Valeria Macias leads Texas A&M International with three tallies and one helper for seven points. The senior has 29 shots with 16 landing on frame for a 0.552 shot on goal percent. She has started all ten matches and claims 923 minutes.

Taylor Camp has been an inpenetrable force in the Mustangs' goal in her nine starts and 763 minutes. She keeps a 0.914 save percent and has 53 saves on 128 shots faced. Camp averages 0.52 goals against with opponents putting only five scores past the goalkeeper. The Waxahachie, Texas native recorded a career-high ten stops against East Central (9/18) to help the Mustangs to a double overtime victory and notched nine saves in the next match against St. Edward's (9/25). Camps registered five shutouts on the season to gain five wins and two ties. In her career, she sits eighth in MSU's all-time record book with six career shutouts. Camp is tenth in the books with 99 career saves and eleventh with seven all-time wins.
Fabiana Solano has one win in ten starts for the Dustdevils. The sophomore has 18 goals against in 159 shots faced for a 1.76 GAA. The keeper has 53 saves and a 0.746 save percent for one shutout on the year.

Hayden Zuniga have one. Savoy notched a brace against Northwestern Oklahoma State (9/02) while Lewis gained hers against Regis (9/12). Savoy launched 16 shots with five landing on target in 406 minutes and Lewis has four shots on goal in 189 minutes. Beck tops MSU with 27 attempts and 15 on frame while gaining five points on the year. The freshman notched tallies against Northwestern Oklahoma State (9/02) and Eastern New Mexico (9/29) where she added an assist. Cannistra registered the game-tying goal against St. Edward's (9/25) and has the third highest shots on the team with 16. Resendez grabbed her first collegiate tally against Eastern New Mexico (9/29) and has 12 shots thus far. Zuniga collected her first Mustang goal against her former team in Eastern New Mexico (9/29) and is 1-1 in penalty kicks.
Nicole Cohen, Tritch Ann Grant, Leianna Jimenez and Clarissa Valdez each collected one goal each for TAMIU.
4 | Nine matches into the 18 game season, MSU has amounted 12 goals, overtaking their total from the full 2020 season that had ten games. Midwestern State has collected their best record since the 2017 season. In their first nine matches, the Mustangs have played to five wins, two drops and two draws for a .667 winning percent. In 2017, the team went 11-8-1 overall and 6-2 in the first eight games for a 0.75 win percentage. That same year, MSU made it to the quarterfinals of the Lone Star Conference post-season tournament and went on to the first round of the NCAA Division II South Central Regional.
Texas A&M International have seven goals on the year and have secured one win at Florida Southern. The team has an eight match losing streak and a 0.100 winning percent.

HEAD COACH RYAN SPENCE begins his fourth season as head coach at his alma mater. In the 2020 season, he led the Mustangs to the quarterfinals of the Lone Star Conference Tournament. As a player, Spence helped the Mustangs dominate in his four years on the field. He earned All-American from 2008-11 and helped the team reach the Final Four in 2010. His center back prowess assisted in gaining 35 shutouts in his tenure. After graduating with a bachelor's degree, he gained his masters from MSU in 2014-15. From there, Spence moved on as assistant coach at Texas A&M International in 2016 and head coach at Eastern New Mexico in 2017 before coming back to Midwestern State in 2018.
SERIES WITH THE DUSTDEVILS
Still in the beginning stages, the Midwestern State and Texas A&M International series will gain the seventh meeting on Saturday. The Mustangs have dominated the first six matches with a 6-0 record against the Dustdevils. The series has just one conference battle, taking place in 2019. MSU smashed TAMIU to a 3-0 defeat in Laredo, Texas. The last time Texas A&M International came to Wichita Falls, Texas, Midwestern State claimed a 4-0 W in 2017. Overall, the Mustangs are 2-0 versus the Dustdevils at Stang Park.
