WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State opens up a five-match homestand this weekend as the Mustangs play host to No. 30 St. Edward's (Texas) and Auburn Montgomery (Ala.) at the MSU Tennis Center.
The Mustangs face off against regional rival St. Edward's to begin the weekend Friday at 1 p.m. before taking on Auburn Montgomery in a 10 a.m. matchup Saturday.
LAST TIME OUT
- Midwestern State collected its fifth and sixth wins over nationally-ranked opponents Saturday with a 7-2 win over No. 46 Oklahoma Baptist and an 8-1 victory over No. 43 Newman (Kan.) at the OBU Tennis Courts in Shawnee, Okla.
MUSTANGS SLIP TO 21ST IN LATEST NATIONAL RANKINGS
- Despite four wins over top-25 opponents through the first 12 matches of the season, Midwestern State dropped out of the top 20 in the national rankings for the first time since Mar. 2013 last week, falling six spots to No. 21 in the Oracle/ITA poll
- MSU remained atop the South Central Region rankings, sitting in front of No. 22 St. Mary's (Texas) and No. 25 Cameron
TOYOS REACHES 100 CAREER WINS
- Senior
Ramon Toyos became the 11th Mustang in program history to reach 100 career dual wins on March 3 following a 6-2, 6-0 win over Northwest Missouri State's No. 38 Roman Boissinot
- The Torrelavega, Spain native carries a 57-24 career singles record and 55-29 doubles mark for a combined dual record of 112-53 (.679) for eighth on the all-time wins list
- Toyos followed former teammates Kacper Boborykin (2015) and
Kyle Davidson (2016) to reach 100 wins with the Mustangs placing a player in the 100-win club for the third-straight season
- Jason Peters set the school record for career dual wins with 144 victories from 1998 to 2001
- Peters is followed by Michael Mills (137), Brett Emerson (133), Zac Dillard (131), Ryan Gillen (127),
Kyle Davidson (124), Brian Holcomb (117), Toyos, Victor Vidal (108), Kacper Boborykin (102) and Charles van Swelm (101)
A LOOK AT THE MUSTANGS
- Midwestern State enters the weekend with a 9-5 season record including a 6-4 mark against top-25 teams this season

Ramon Toyos ranks ninth in the nation and first in the region in singles with an 8-5 record at No. 1, recording seven wins over regionally-ranked opponents and a pair of nationally-ranked wins

SCOUTING THE HILLTOPPERS
- St. Edward's is 12-8 on the season but has played just eight matches against NCAA Division II opponents for a 3-5 record
- The Hilltoppers are ranked 30th in the country and fifth in the South Central Region
- Charlie Shin ranks 16th in the region in singles playing at lines one and two for an 11-6 record on the year
- Chase Bartlett has also seen time on the top two courts this season for a 9-6 mark
- Will Drumwright leads SEU with an 11-5 record playing mostly on court four while Mateus de Col is 10-7 playing primarily at No. 3 this season
- Shin and Bartlett are 4-5 at No. 1 doubles this season while Davor Ivkovic and Zac Robinson carry a 4-1 record on court three
INSIDE THE SERIES
- St. Edward's leads the all-time series with Midwestern State, 12-10, going back to the 1999 season
- The Mustangs have won six straight in the series after the Hilltoppers won 11 in a row from 2004 to 2012

SCOUTING THE WARHAWKS
- Auburn Montgomery comes in with a 10-6 record on the year with all six losses coming to top-20 teams including four to top-10 programs
