The Weekend
Midwestern State begins a four-game home stand with matches against East Central (Okla.) and Rogers State (Okla.) this weekend at the MSU Soccer Field. The Mustangs look to get on a positive role after scoring a 3-0 win last weekend at Oklahoma Christian. MSU is 3-6-1 over its last 10 games on its home pitch.

Scouting the Lady Tigers
Former Lone Star Conference rival East Central (Okla.) is off to an 0-5 start this season and has been outscored by its opposition by a 12-3 margin. The Lady Tigers are coming off of a 3-1 loss Wednesday at Texas Woman's and have not held a lead in a match this season. ECU is paced by junior forward Kourtney Holleman who has netted two of the team's three goals this season while senior midfielder Ashley Bradford tallied the other.

About the Series
Midwestern State and East Central meet for the 17th time on the pitch Friday night at the MSU Soccer Field. The Mustangs own a 13-2-1 mark over the Lady Tigers claiming the last meeting between the programs by an 8-0 margin on Oct. 3, 2010 in Wichita Falls.

Scouting the Hillcats
Rogers State rides a four-game skid into Sunday's match at the MSU Soccer Field. The Hillcats, who have been outscored 15-2 by the opposition, play their first consecutive road match including an 8-0 loss at Division I Oral Roberts. Senior midfielder Melissa Subu and junior forward Tara Garrett accounted for a goal each for RSU.

About the Series
Midwestern State and Rogers State will meet for the first time on the pitch Sunday afternoon at the MSU Soccer Field.

Cottrell Nets LSC Offensive Honors
Sophomore Ashley Cottrell notched her third career multiple-goal performance and added an assist while leading the Mustangs to a 3-0 win last Saturday at Oklahoma Christian to gain LSC Offensive Player of the Week honors. The 5-9 forward garnered LSC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year accolades after leading the Mustangs with seven goals last season. Cottrell earned All-LSC first-team honors and was the league's top freshman in 2012.

Catney Delivers Big Effort
Junior midfielder Katy Catney notched a goal and an assist in the Mustangs' 3-1 win Saturday at Oklahoma Christian. It was the Wichita Falls native's fourth collegiate goal and first against an opponent other than West Texas A&M. Catney hit the Lady Buffs for two goals as a freshman then scored again against WT last season. The goal was also her first away from the MSU Soccer Field.

Essary Enjoying Spotlight
Senior Kallie Essary's patience is paying off for Midwestern State. The 5-4 goalkeeper from Carrollton posted two clean sheets in the first four matches of the season after serving in a reserve role in each of the last three seasons. Essary rates among LSC leaders with a 0.86 goals against average and an .857 save percentage.

Looking Ahead
Midwestern State concludes its home stand next weekend with its Lone Star Conference opener against Angelo State on Friday before playing host to another former LSC foe -- Central Oklahoma -- on Sunday.
