WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Craig Green paced a pack of six Midwestern State double-figure scorers as the Mustangs rolled to a 90-68 win over Wayland Baptist in exhibition play Monday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
The senior guard connected on a pair of 3-pointers on his way to a solid all-around performance of 17 points, seven rebounds and seven assists.
The Mustangs erupted for a 20-2 run at the beginning of the second half fueled by the big man trio of
Rashad Austin,
Michael Godwin and
Charlie Logan.
Austin, a senior transfer from Bradley University, kick started the run with a turnaround jumper in the lane before before senior guard Chris Hagen canned a trey from the left wing to push the advantage to 45-36.
After a pair of
Jason Ebie free throws, Austin connected for back-to-back baskets before Logan put the exclamation point on the scoring spree with a dunk over Wayland's Jason Davenport to push the lead to 58-38.
Austin finished off a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds after scoring two points in the opening half.
Godwin added 15 points and seven rebounds while Hagan added 14 points and Ebie had 13 points, six rebounds and five steals.
The Mustangs continue exhibition play at UTSA Saturday before opening the season against Trinity (Texas) on Nov. 15 at the Recreation and Convocation Center on the campus of St. Edward's University in Austin.
