LAWTON, Okla. -- Midwestern State Cross Country sets off on the 2026 season at the Aggie Duals on Friday Sept. 4, hosted by Cameron University in Lawton, Okla. The 5k race is set to begin at 8 a.m. from Big Green Soccer Complex.

Midwestern State took home second place at last season's LSC Conference Championship Meet, the programs highest finish since 2018. The Mustangs then went on to take 10th place at the NCAA South Central Regional Championship.
 
From that 2025 squad, Grace Pineda is the only returner from the Mustangs top-5 scorers at the LSC Championships, while veterans Perla Flores, Isabel Hernandez, and Jazira Perez are back after competing at the LSC Championships. Midwestern State welcomed 11 newcomers to the squad; bring a contingent of 19 student-athletes to compete with the Mustangs in 2026.
 
Last season at the Aggie Duals, Midwestern State took 3^rd place behind West Texas A&M and East Central. Perla Flores finished the 5K race in 19:25.82, finishing 12^th overall and being the second fastest MSU runner on the course, behind Konnar McClendon (19:04.08, 10^th). Isabel Hernandez (19:37.67, 20^th) and Jazira Perez (19:56.88, 24^th) each finished in the top-seven for the Mustangs. Maggie Neal (20:03.94, 28^th), Sophia Lee (21:28.97, 52^nd), and Zulma Garcia (23:10.35, 70^th) all raced for Midwestern State at last seasons Aggie Dual.

Midwestern State hosts their own cross-country meet two weeks later, with the Mustang Derby taking place on Sept. 17 at Lake Wichita Park. The meet commences Thursday morning at 8 a.m.
