Cross Country Runs To 2nd Place Finish At LSC Championships

MSU earned its highest team finish at LSC Championships since 2018.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Midwestern State Women's Cross Country took home second place at the Lone Star Conference Cross Country Championships, its highest finish at the championships since 2018, on Saturday morning. During the 6K race at AP Ranch, Ella Pando and Jadyn Dangerfield led the team with 9th and 10th place finishes, respectively.

The Mustangs took second place of 15 teams, finishing behind West Texas A&M (37 total points) with 77 total points, and beat out 3rd place UT Tyler by just three points (80 points) in team scoring. A charge in the final 3 km helped the Mustangs leap the Patriots of UTT, going past the UT Tyler in team scoring during the final half of the race. The Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M claimed their 3rd straight conference championship, and fifth overall.

Pando and Dangerfield's top 15 finishes both earned the seniors all-conference honors, with Pando garnering the accolade for the third straight season, while Dangerfield wins the all-conference accolade for the first time. Pando was with the top finisher for the Mustangs with a 21:52.96 time in the 6K race. Dangerfield finished right after Pando in 10th, turning in a 22:07.73 mark.
