LAWTON, Okla. -- Midwestern State Cross Country raced at the Aggie Duals to begin the 2026 season. The Mustangs had 15 competitors compete during the race, including 10 freshman.
 
Midwestern State competed in a field of 80 student-athletes and seven different programs. Familiar conference foes, Cameron and Lubbock Christian, also competed in the race. Elizabeth Gregory led the Mustangs on the 5K course, finishing inside the top-10 to earn meet accolades. Gregory was one of 10 Mustangs to race in their first collegiate meet, alongside Natalie Trevino, Yarida DeLeon, Makayla Jetton, Jacie Kainer, Lola Hart, Shae Coates, Alyson Mata, Addison Clark, and Yasmeen Tejeda.
 
Jazira Perez led the five returners for the Mustangs that took to the course, with Maggie Neal, Sydney Carian, Sophia Lee, and Zulma Garcia completing the course at Big Green Soccer Complex. The Mustangs began the season at the Aggie Duals for the third straight year.

Midwestern State's next event is the Mustang Derby, hosted at Lake Wichita Park in Wichita Falls, Texas in Grand Prairie on Oct. 11. The race at Lynn Creek Park begins at 9:15 a.m.
