LUBBOCK, Texas – No. 21-ranked Midwestern State travels to Lubbock Christian on Wednesday night with an eight-game winning streak and a plus-24 goal differential, which is the best in NCAA Division II. The Mustangs are averaging three goals a game and have not conceded a goal this season.

Midwestern State (8-0-0, 4-0-0) is coming off a 1-0 win over UT Dallas on Saturday night as Lexi Gonzales scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season in the 85th minute.  The Mustangs outshot the Comets at UTD Soccer Complex 12-7 and only allowed one shot on goal. Midwestern State put four of its shots on frame. 

An MSU opponent has not put more than five shots on goal in the last 27 games.

Gonzales leads the Stangs with 12 points from four goals and four assists. Sloane Sullivan is second on the team with nine points from three goals and three assists.

Fourteen Mustangs have scored a goal this season. Madison Brinkley, McKynzi Hailey, Ashlynn Knight, Binky Mendez and Bella Pillow have each scored two goals this season. 

Seven players have scored one goal, including Leeci Snyder, who is tied with Gonzales for the team lead in assists with four. Six players have assisted on two goals for MSU, and five other Mustangs have one assist. 

Midwestern State is sixth in the nation and second in the conference with 3.25 assists per game. MSU is third has the second most total goals in the LSC with 24, which is seventh-most in the nation. Three goals per game is the third highest average in the conference and 12th among Division II programs.

Goalkeeper Lauren Short is leading the country with seven shutouts, and she has one combined shutout. Tanner Sorenson played the second half in an 8-0 win over Eastern New Mexico. Short has made 14 saves in eight starts this season. She has made two or fewer saves in six of her eight appearances for the Mustangs. She made a season-high four saves in a 1-0 win over Central Oklahoma.

Midwestern State has won all three road games this season: at Oklahoma Baptist (5-0), at UT Permian Basin (3-0) and at UT Dallas (1-0). The Mustangs have a five-game road winning streak, dating back to wins at Dallas Baptist (2-0) and Eastern New Mexico (5-0) last season. The Mustangs have a plus-16 goal differential in those games without conceding a goal.

Midwestern State leads the all-time series with Lubbock Christian 5-2 and has won the last three meetings, including a 2-0 victory at Stang Park last season. MSU outshot the Lady Chaps, 24-5, and did not allow a shot on goal. Bella Rose and Lillia Besedin scored second-half goals in the victory for the Mustangs.

The Mustangs won their last visit to LCU, 2-1, as Brinkley scored a goal in the third minute for the Mustangs, who improved to 1-1-0 all-time at LCU Soccer & Track Facility.

Lubbock Christian (5-1-2, 2-0-2) has a seven-game unbeaten streak following its 2-0 victory over Angelo State as the Lady Chaps improved to 2-1-1 at home this season.

The Lady Chaps have recorded back-to-back shutouts and three this season. Their goals-against average is 0.88. 

Logan Hollway scored her fourth career game-winning goal as LCU earned its first-ever win over the Rambelles in the 10th meeting. Holloway leads the Lady Chaps and is fifth in the LSC with four goals this season, including two in an 8-2 win at Western Colorado on Sept. 3.

Kaslee Roskelley has three goals for the Lady Chaps, while Mia Chambliss, Journey Curs, Trinity Doom and Kali Guy have all scored two goals this season. Lauren Rotan leads LCU with three assists. Roskelley, Curs and Riley Espinoza all have two assists for the Lady Chaps.

Emma Wright posted the clean sheet with five saves against the Rambelles. Wright has three shutouts in seven starts for LCU with 35 saves. Her save percentage is .854, and she sports a .086 goals-against average.

Lubbock Christian has a plus-11 goal differential which is sixth-best in the conference. The Lady Chaps are the fourth-highest scoring team in the LSC with 18 goals this season. 

Both schools commit more than nine fouls per match, which puts them in the bottom third of the conference. LCU has been shown a conference-high 11 yellow cards, while Midwestern State has been cautioned six times this season. Neither team has seen a red card in their first eight games.
