WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Kennedy Johnson earns Lone Star Conference Field Athlete of the Week, following a record-breaking weekend at the Joe Gillespie Invitational. Johnson is the second Mustangs to earn an LSC weekly honor, joining
Jessie Heath who earned LSC Indoor Track Athlete of the Week (1/27/26).

Johnson had standout weekend, breaking the Mustangs school record in the triple jump with a mark of 12.39m (40' 7.75"). The sophomore set the record on their 5
th attempt, in legal wind (1.2), to take second place behind Tarleton State's Sofia DeGroot.

The mark set a DII provisional mark and ranks 9
th in all of Division II. The mark also places Johnson first in the region for the event. Additionally, The Euless, Texas native sprinted to a 12.07s mark in the 10 meters, 24.91s in the 200 meters, while helping anchor the 4x100 meter relay to a 3
rd place finish (3
rd place).
Midwestern State returns to the track next weekend, traveling to Norman, Okla. for the OU O Ring Alumni Opener. The two-day meet will take place from Apr. 24 through Apr. 25 at John Jacobs Track & Field Complex.
