ROCKWALL, Texas – Midwestern State enters the final round of stroke play at the Lone Star Conference Championship in fourth place. The Mustangs finished 13-over 589 through the first 36 holes at Rockwall Golf and Athletic Club on Monday.
The top-four teams at the conclusion of 54 holes advance to the semifinals and medal match play on Wednesday.
Midwestern State has a four-stroke lead over fifth-place St. Mary's and is one stroke behind third-place West Texas A&M with 18 holes to play on Tuesday.
UT Tyler and Dallas Baptist are tied for the lead through the first two rounds at 7-over.
Mary Kerr is in a three-way tie for seventh place at 1-over on the individual leaderboard, trailing the leader Martha Laremark of UT Tyler by five strokes. Kerr carded an even-par 72 in the first round and followed that with a 1-over 73 in the second round.
Kerr birdied holes No. 4, No. 6 and No. 9 in both rounds and finished both rounds with six consecutive pars.
Alli Reily and Kodi Nolen are in a group of five players tied for 16th place at 5-over. Reily shot 1-over 73 in the second round after shooting 4-over 76 in the opening round. The senior from Pottsboro, Texas, finished the day with three birdies through the first 36 holes.
Nolen had two birdies in each round, shooting 3-over 75 in the morning session and 2-over 74 in the second round.
Romane Lacoste is 8-over through two rounds after carding three birdies on the back nine of the first round on her way to a 1-over 73.
Emme Darnold had two birdies on the front nine in the first round and shot 7-over.
Madison Wert was inserted as a substitute in the second round. She eagled the par-5, 500-yard sixth hole and finished at 1-over with a birdie on the 17th hole.
Midwestern State tees off at 8:30 on Tuesday morning and will attempt to stay among the top four teams to qualify for medal match play on Wednesday.
