ROCKWALL, Texas – Midwestern State missed out on making the semifinals of the Lone Star Conference Championship at Rockwall Golf & Athletic Club on Tuesday. The Mustangs shot 14-over 302 in the final round of stroke play, resulting in a fifth-place finish at 27-over for 54 holes — five strokes behind fourth-place St. Mary's and a berth in the medal match round on Wednesday.
Defending national champion Dallas Baptist earned the No. 1 seed for the semifinals and will go head-to-head with the Rattlers on Wednesday. DBU finished 12-over 876 — one stroke better than UT Tyler, which will play against West Texas A&M in the semifinals. The Lady Buffs completed stroke play at 19-over 883.
Brooke Yount of UT Dallas won the individual stroke play title after shooting 6-under 66 in the final round at 5,997-yard course along the shores of Lake Ray Hubbard. Yount had her second eagle of the tournament and five birdies in her final round after shooting 4-under 68 in the second round. The sophomore from League City, Texas, had just two bogies over the final 36 holes and finished three strokes better than Martha Laremark of UT Tyler, who finished tied for second with Gracie Grant of Dallas Baptist.
Mary Kerr led the Mustangs and finished tied with Karina Duran of UT Tyler in eighth place at 4-over 220. Kerr finished with nine birdies, three in each round, and closed with a 3-over 75.
Kodi Nolen and
Alli Reily finished in a five-way tie for 13th place at 8-over. Both players shot 3-over in the final round. Nolen had three birdies over her final 18 holes and finished with seven birdies for the tournament. Reily birdied two of her final four holes and finished the tournament with five birdies.
Romane Lacoste birdied the 500-yard, par-5 16th hole for the second time during the tournament on her way to a 6-over 78 in the final round, and she finished in 34th place at 14-over. The junior from France had four birdies in the three rounds combined, including three over a four-hole stretch of the back nine during her opening round, when she fired a 1-over 73.
Madison Wert was inserted as a substitute at the start of the second round, and she shot 5-over 77 in the final round after carding a 1-over 73 on Monday.
Midwestern State waits to see if it will be part of the field for the 2026 NCAA Division II West Regional, which will be revealed on April 26. The regional will be played May 4-6 at Pueblo Country Club in Pueblo, Colorado.
