The Mustangs are hoping to extend their four-dual winning streak before entering conference play on Friday against Lubbock Christian.

Midwestern State (8-3) is coming off a 4-3 win over Hawaii Hilo last week. No. 10-ranked Germano Setti clinched the dual match triumph for the Mustangs when he pulled out a 3-6, 7-5, 7-6 (9) over Jamie Paquet at No. 1 singles.

Setti improved to 7-2 for the season, and he is 5-2 in three-set matches this spring.

Juan David Duque extended his winning streak in singles to four matches without dropping a set by dispatching Filippo Di Perna at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-0. Duque is 5-1 in the No. 4 position for the Mustangs.

Midwestern State won the doubles point for the third time in four dual matches as Bruno Sanchez and Cesar Loeches Llamas scored a 6-3 win over Angel Fonseca and Jaden William at No. 1 doubles. The duo earned their second consecutive win and improved to 3-1 at No. 1 doubles.

Setti and Matthew Earle have posted eight consecutive victories at No. 2 doubles after defeating David Krnavek and Sergi Tintore of Hawaii Hilo, 6-2.  The formidable pairing is 9-1 this season for the Mustangs.

Duque and Jose Marquez have played No. 3 doubles in the last four dual matches and are 2-2 following a 6-2 loss to Iori Furuhata and Max Solano last week.

Marquez had a four-match winning streak at No. 3 singles snapped with a 7-6 (5), 3-6, 2-6 loss to Fonseca of the Vulcans. Marquez opened the campaign with a three-match winning streak at the No. 4 spot and is 7-4 in singles this season.

Earle is 3-3 at No. 5 singles for the Mustangs and is coming off a 6-7 (6-8), 6-3, 4-6 loss to Furuhata of Hawaii Hilo.

Midwestern State lost its last eight encounters with Tyler Junior College, which won the last meeting in 2023, 4-0. Setti and Duque both played in that dual match for the Mustangs. Setti lost in straight sets at No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-3, and Duque was trailing in an unfinished match at No. 5 singles.

Duque played with current head coach Luis Diaz at No. 2 doubles and came away with a 6-3 victory, but the Apaches won the doubles point. Setti played No. 1 doubles alongside Marcal Miret Avante and dropped a 6-4 decision.

The Mustangs last win in the series was a 5-4 triumph at MSU Tennis Center in April of 2014. The Apaches lead the all-time series, 10-2.

Tyler Junior College is 9-3 this season with a 5-1 record on its home courts. The Apaches fell to Hawaii Hilo this past weekend, 4-3.
