SPRING, Texas – Romane Lacoste led No. 29-ranked Midwestern State through the first two rounds of the Southern Invite hosted by Central Oklahoma at Cypresswood Golf Club on Monday. The Mustangs are tied for ninth in a field of 15 schools at 40-over 616.
Lacoste, a junior from France, opened the day with 2-over 74 in the first round and is in 12th place entering the final round on Tuesday.
Lacoste shot even-par through the first four holes before a bogey at the 547-yard, par-5 fifth hole. She reeled off four more pars before she opened the back nine with a bogey at the 348-yard, par-4 10th hole. Lacoste followed a bogey at No. 15 with her first birdie of the day on the 378-yard, par-4 16th hole.

Madison Wert, who is competing as an individual, both shot 4-over 76 in the second round. Lacoste birdied the par-3 third hole. Wert opened her second round with a birdie on the 328-yard, par-4 15th hole, and would add another birdie on the 468-yard, par-5 12th hole before closing with back-to-back pars.
Wert and
Mary Kerr are tied for 27th place at 10-over 154 through the first 36 holes. Kerr shot 5-over in both rounds on Monday and finished the day with three birdies.
Alli Reily had five birdies in her first round but finished the first 18 holes at 4-over 76. The senior from Pottsboro, Texas, had three more birdies over her final seven holes but finished the second round at 7-over 79. Reily is in 32nd place entering the third round of the 54-hole event.
Kodi Nolen shot 8-over in the first round on Monday morning but closed her round with a birdie and two pars. She opened her second round in the afternoon with pars on nine of her first 10 holes and closed the day with a 5-over 77. The senior from Midlothian, Texas, is in 46th place at 13-over 157.
Emme Darnold had three birdies over the first 36 holes and shot 9-over 81 in both rounds and is 60th on the leaderboard entering the final round.
Midwestern State had 17 birdies as a team but finished the first two rounds with 62 bogeys.
No. 6-ranked UT Tyler is atop the leaderboard at 6-over 582 and leads No. 2-ranked Dallas Baptist by 11 strokes entering the final round. Rogers State is in third place at 29-over, followed by Henderson State at 33-over and No. 18-ranked St. Mary's at 34-over.
No. 7-ranked Martha Laremark of UT Tyler is the only player in the field under par through the first 36 holes. She holds a one-stroke lead over her teammate Lucy Kate Smith and Lily Nelson of Henderson State at 1-under 143.
No. 11-ranked Gracie Grant of Dallas Baptist and Karina Duran of UT Tyler are tied for fourth place on the leaderboard at 1-over 145.
The 80-player field will begin the final round of the tournament on Tuesday morning.
