WICHITA FALLS, Texas – No. 18-ranked Midwestern State plays its home opener of the dual-match season on Wednesday afternoon at the MSU Tennis Center. Seward County Community College will face the Mustangs, and the first serve is scheduled for 3 p.m.
Midwestern State has already posted convincing victories over Northwest Missouri State and Cowley County Community College as the team played two dual matches in Arkansas City, Kansas, last week.
The Mustangs lead the all-time series with Seward County, 3-1, but this is the first meeting between the two programs since Seward County prevailed at MSU Tennis Center in April of 2017, 5-4.

Midwestern State is No. 18 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association preseason rankings, led by
Germano Setti,
Bruno Sanchez,
Juan David Duque and
Matthew Earle, who transferred from Washburn.
Setti ranks No. 7 in the nation for singles and No. 5 in the South Central region. David Duque is No. 33 in singles rankings nationally, and No. 7 in region.
Duque and Sanchez are the top doubles team in the South Central region and No. 11 nationally. The pair of Earle and Setti are not far behind, standing No. 16 in nation, and No. 4 in the region.
Setti, a senior from Brazil, reached the quarterfinals and won two of his three singles matches at the prestigious ITA Cup in October. Setti teamed with Earle in doubles and reached the finals at the ITA DII Men's South Central Regional Championships and received an invitation to play in the 2025 ITA Cup.
Setti reached the singles quarterfinals at the ITA DII Men's South Central Regional Championships.
Sanchez and Duque outlasted Earle and Setti in the doubles' final at the ITA DII Men's South Central Regional Championships. Duque and Sanchez were the No. 7 seed in the 32-team draw and defeated three consecutive seeded pairings on their way to an automatic berth in the ITA Cup.
Duque is a senior from Colombia and in his fourth season with the Mustangs, while Sanchez is in his junior season at Midwestern State.
Sanchez, who is from Spain, played 21 singles matches and finished the dual-match season with a 12-9 record last spring.
Midwestern State opened its 2026 dual-match season with a 5-2 victory over Northwest Missouri State.
Senior
Jose Marquez clinched the victory with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Bernardo Henriques at No. 4 singles. Marques was 10-7 in singles for the Mustangs last season.
Setti was dominant in a 6-1, 6-2 triumph over Dominik Wijntjes at No. 1 singles.
Sanchez was equally impressive at No. 3 singles as he waltzed to a 6-0, 6-2 triumph over Konstantin Feiel.
Duque staged a come-from-behind 6-7, 6-2, 10-8 victory over Pavlo Vysotin at No. 2 singles.
Earle fell to Antonin Leborne in straight sets at No. 6 singles, 6-4, 6-3.
Midwestern State defeated Cowley County, 6-1, winning five out of six singles matches after sweeping doubles to clinch the win.
Leguizamon clinched the victory with a 7-6 (7), 6-2 win over Guilherme Coelho.
Cesar Loeches Llamas picked up the first singles points with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles against Vaughn Smith.
Marquez was a 6-3, 6-4 winner over Wojtek Biela at No. 4 singles. Sanchez was a 7-5, 6-2 winner over Luca Laurindo at No. 3 singles.
Setti was pushed to three sets by Haruki Okunde but prevailed, 6-0, 5-7, 6-2.
The Tigers only win came at No. 2 singles, where Dan Hosono edged Duque in a tightly contested match, 4-6, 6-2, 7-5.
Seward County was 2-4 last spring with an 0-3 record on the road. The Knights have four players from South America and five Europeans on their 11-man roster. Five players on the Seward County roster are freshman, including four players from France.
Midwestern State has another dual-match scheduled for Friday against Collin County Community College.
