GEORGETOWN, Texas --Â Midwestern State Cross Country heads south for the programs first 6K race of the season, as they will compete in the SU Showdown, hosted by Southwestern University. The Mustangs will be one of 14 institutions racing, including against Lone Star Conference opponent DBU.
The 6K race features athletes from all divisions of the NCAA, junior colleges, and running clubs, providing a packed field for MSU to navigate. Division I programs, Rice, East Texas A&M, and Prairie View bring top level athletes to the event, along with members of Texas Running Club, along with two unattached individuals.
Midwestern State captured victory in their last meet, winning their home Mustang Derby on Sept. 17.
Grace Pineda was the first Mustang to cross the finish line, taking second place in the 4K race with a time of 14:32.1. A handful of Mustangs shortly followed as Midwestern State represented seven of the top-10 finishers.

th) made it into the top five.

Several Mustangs will be running the 6K distance for the first time in their collegiate career:
Yarida De Leon, Gregory,
Lola Hart,
Makayla Jetton,
Jacie Kainer, and
Natalie Trevino, while upperclassmen, Pineda, Flores,
Isabel Hernandez, and
Jazira Perez will look to guide the Mustangs in the competitive meet.
The Mustangs race in the Old Glory Gallop, following the weekend in Georgetown, on Oct. 13 at AP Ranch in Dallas, Texas.
