WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Jessie Heath posted three podium finishes this past weekend at the JD Martin Invitational, earning Lone Star Conference Track Athlete of the Week, announced the conference office Tuesday. Heath becomes the first Mustang to garner a track athlete of the week honor from the LSC in school history (based on available records).

Heath dashed to a provisional mark in the 400m, taking second place behind a Division I competitor, recording a season best time 56.08 (time adjusted, posted 56.82 on flat track). The mark in the 400m is the 5
th fastest in the region, while being 18
th in all of Division II.

The Azle, Texas native sprinted to a 3
rd place finish in the 200m, only finishing behind teammates
Hailee Janzen and
Kennedy DeHorney, 25.68 (time adjusted, posted on 26.08 on flat track). The junior contributed to a win in the 4x400 meters, splitting a 56.94 on the anchor leg to claim first place alongside
Karissa Nixon,
Jadyn Dangerfield, and
Shalisa Williams.
Midwestern State are back on the track when they travel to Pittsburg, Kan. for 11th Annual Russ Jewett Indoor Gorilla Classic. The two-day event begins on Friday, Feb. 13, continuing through Saturday, Feb. 14.
