PUEBLO, Colorado -- Midwestern State's
Nidhi Singh finished third in the third heat of the first round of the 800-meter run Friday night in the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championship at Colorado State-Pueblo's Thunder Bowl.
Her time of 2:10.08 was good enough for 12th overall, but did not qualify for the finals set for for Saturday night at 7 p.m. (Central).
Singh placed behind Academy of Art's Lina Hanich (2:07.92) and Adams State's Lieke Hoogsteen (2:07.27) with a time of 2:10.08. But it was the top two finishers from each heat or the fastest three times outside of those automatic qualifiers for the finals.
Joining Hanich and Hoogsteen were the top two finishers of the first two heats, which included Colorado State-Pueblo's Helen Braybrook (2:05.15) and Ashland's Jade Avance (2:06.01) in the first heat and West Texas A&M's Abigail Abugire (2:05.84) and Lincoln (Mo.)'s Shaneal Clarke-Giddings (2:05.90) out of the second heat.
The wild card qualifiers were Azusa Pacific's Olivia Alexandre (2:06.55) and Colorado State-Pueblo's Leah Keisler (2:06.83) out of the second heat, and Tiffin's Ines Macadam (2:06.97) from the first heat.
Singh earned United State Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) All-America honors during indoor season after finishing fifth in the 800-meter run at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships with a time of 2:06.84.
She earned second-team All-LSC honors during the outdoor campaign after running a season-best 2:07.01 for a silver medal finish in the 800-meter run at the LSC Outdoor Track & Field Championships earlier this month in Portales, New Mexico.
