CANYON, Texas -- Midwestern State's Trell'Kyah Watkins improved on her school in the 400-meter hurdles Sunday afternoon in the West Texas A&M Last Chance Meet at Buffalo Sports Park.
The junior from Dallas raced to an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time of 1:00:35, knocking .25 seconds off of her previous best of 1:00.60 set last week at the Lone Star Conference Outdoor Championships.
Watkins' time moved to 35th on the NCAA Division II performance chart.
The field for the NCAA Division II Championships will be announced Tuesday night at 5 p.m. (Central Time).
The championships are set for May 22-24 at the Colorado State-Pueblo ThunderBowl.
MSU senior
Nidhi Singh set a personal best time of 4:48.51 in the 1,500-meter run, while also finishing second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.80.
Singh is currently eighth on the NCAA Division II performance chart in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:06.53.
Freshman
Kennedy Johnson placed fourth in the triple jump with a wind-aided mark of 37 feet, 9 3/4 inches. The Euless, Texas, native owns the 31st-best time in NCAA Division II with leap of 39 feet, 8 inches last week at the LSC Outdoor Championships.
