SAN ANGELO, Texas -- Midwestern State's Kennedy Johnson set the school triple jump record, while eight more Mustangs set personal bests Saturday in the David Noble Relays at Angelo State's LeGrand Stadium.

Johnson, a freshman from Euless, Texas, leaped 38 feet and 1 1/2 inches to finish third in the event, while improving the program's previous best mark of 37 feet, 8 3/4 inches which was set by Peyton Lewis in 2022.

The Mustangs also dominated in the 400-meter hurdles and 1,500-meter run.

Senior Nidhi Singh was just a half-second off of an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time in the 400-meter hurdles, winning the event with a time of 1:02.62, while sophomore Jessie Heath was very close behind, taking second with a time of 1:02.64, which stands as the third fastest time in program history.

Junior Trell'Kyrah Watkins also turned in a strong effort by finishing fourth with a time of 1:03.29.

Sophomore Jaycee Lyons won the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:46.69, as the Mustangs boasted six of the top eight finishers including Nathalia Escontrias (4:48.05/2nd), Jadyn Dangerfield (4:50.44/3rd), Lula Nolen (5:03.91/6th), Rosalene Reyes Perez (5:05.17/7th), and Perla Flores (5:05.96/8th).

Singh also took third in the 200-meter dash with a wind-aided time of 25.16, while senior Corinne Thorpe led the Mustangs in the 100 with a wind-aided 12.13 to take fifth. Thorpe also also placed sixth in the 200 with a legal time of 25.60.

Senior Daiza Jones (57.73) and freshman Maggie Neal (58.15) finished second and third in the 400-meter dash, while Dangerfield was fifth with a 59.80.

Junior Mariana Sanchez (11:50.67) placed third in the steeplechase, while Escontrias (2:20.60) was third in the 800-meter run.

Midwestern State's 4x100-meter relay squad which included Thorpe, Karissa Nixon, Watkins, and Hailee Janzen) placed third with a time of 47.45.

The next meet on the Mustangs' schedule is the Buffalo Invitational set for Thursday, April 17 at Buffalo Sports Park in Canyon.
