WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State's Zarria Carter and Seth Bearden were presented as Midwestern State's Outstanding Student-Athletes at the annual MSU Student-Athlete Awards Banquet Monday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.

The award is presented to the most outstanding student-athlete at MSU for their tireless efforts on behalf of his or her team, and the entire program. Also, for exemplary participation throughout the community on behalf of Midwestern State University.

Carter, a senior from Mansfield, Texas, did it all for the Mustangs as the Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Year this season, while also earning All-LSC first-team honors.

She led the LSC in three different categories, averaging 20.9 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 2.6 steals per game, while finishing the campaign with a league-best 17 double-doubles.

Carter also led the way in the classroom, sporting a 3.76 grade-point average as a criminal justice major, and was a three-time member of the LSC Commissioner's Honor Roll.

Bearden, a junior from Crowell, Texas, earned PING/GCAA All-America honors as a sophomore, and was the Lone Star Conference Player of the Year this season while leading the Mustangs to their fifth conference title.

He is also a two-time All-LSC first-team honoree, and was named to the LSC All-Academic Team this season.

Bearden graduated with a 3.56 grade-point average in Sport, Coaching, Leadership, and Administration last December, and is currently working toward a Master's of Sport Administration.

The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) announced the Robert Grays 24Strong Teammate of the Year for each of the 13 programs as voted by their peers. In addition, the MSU Athletic Department unveiled the 2024-25 Mustang Scholars.
