WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State's Stephen Slocombe and Hannah Yip earned Lone Star Conference Scholar Athlete honors as released by league officials Thursday afternoon.

Each academic year, the LSC presents a Scholar-Athlete award to one male and one female student-athlete at each member institution. These student-athletes are selected as representatives for the outstanding accomplishments in athletics, scholarship, and leadership that are displayed on campus each year.

To be eligible for consideration, student-athletes must have participated in at least two years in their sport and be a member of the graduating class.

Slocombe, who graduated with an exercise physiology degree in May, is two-time member of the LSC Commissioner's Honor Roll and was an Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar Athlete in 2024.

The 5-10, 167-pound, right-hander is also a two-time ITA All American in doubles and is the first in program history to achieve the status with two different partners.

Slocombe teamed with Filip Vacula to post a 13-6 record while playing at the No. 1 doubles position this spring, finishing the year ranked ninth in the ITA's D2 doubles national rankings.

The duo boasted a 5-3 mark against other nationally ranked opposition, including pair of wins over UT Tyler's Carel Wessel and Daniil Felker, who also gained All-America honors by finishing the campaign ranked fifth.

Slocombe garnered All-America honors playing alongside Luis Diaz in 2024.

Yip closed out a stellar career by helping the Mustangs to the NCAA Division II semifinals for the second consecutive year.

She was presented with the NCAA Elite 90 award at the championship site for carrying a 4.00 grade-point average as a geoscience major.

Yip was a three-time member of the LSC All-Academic and was the league's academic player of the year in 2023.

The Malaysian was a third-team Collegiate Sports Communicators' Academic All American in 2024, while earning ITA Scholar Athlete mention in 2022, 2023, and 2024.

Yip earned All-LSC doubles honors on three occasions and twice earned all-league mention in singles.
