EDMOND, Okla. -- Midwestern State is on the road to face Oklahoma Christian in a doubleheader on Saturday at 2 p.m., and the Mustangs renew the Red River Rivalry with Cameron on Monday. The doubleheader at McMahon Field in Lawton, Oklahoma, gets underway at 3 p.m.
Midwestern State (4-9, 1-3) is coming off its first Lone Star Conference win of the season after defeating St. Edward's 11-6 in the second game of a doubleheader at Mustangs Park on Sunday.
Myranda Jimenez made her fifth start of the season for the Mustangs, and the senior from Cathedral City, California, was 3-for-4 with a triple and five RBIs in the victory.
Sydney Linn extended her hitting streak to 11 games with a 3-for-4 performance against the Hilltoppers. In the first four games of the conference campaign, Linn is 9-for-14 (.643) with a double an RBI. For the season, the sophomore from Holliday, Texas, is hitting .528 (19-for-36) with two doubles and five RBIs for the Mustangs. Linn boasts the fourth-best batting average in the LSC and has the 12th-most hits in the league. She is 22nd in the nation with 19 hits.
Linn, who has six multi-hit games, is tied with
Jessika Roberts for the team lead in stolen bases with seven, which is fourth-most in the LSC. The Mustangs are third in the conference and 19th in the nation with 27 stolen bases and have only been caught stealing five times.
Camile Nunez, who was unavailable for the two games against St. Edward's, is hitting .371 (13-for-35) for the Mustangs and has at least one hit in nine of her 11 games this season. The senior shortstop from Madera, California, has three multi-hit games and is second on the team with seven RBIs. Nunez has four extra-base hits with two doubles, a triple and a home run.
Freshman
Jaycee Yezak leads the team with eight RBIs and is hitting .273 (9-of-33). The third baseman has an on-base percentage of .385 and has been hit by a pitch four times this season.
Megan Ayala has played three positions in her first 12 games this season. Ayala has been used as a catcher, second baseman and third baseman. The junior from Denton, Texas, is hitting .276 (8-for-29) with two doubles and four RBIs in 12 games.
Junior
Tatum Waller also has four RBIs for the Mustangs. She is hitting .257 (9-for-35) with one double this season. The centerfielder has not made an error in 24 chances and leads the outfielders with four assists in 13 games this season.
Sophomore
Emma Roach is leading the team with three doubles and has four RBIs. The first baseman is hitting .250 (7-for-28) with a .417 on-base percentage. Roach has drawn five walks and been hit by a pitch three times in 12 games.
Junior catcher
Madison Stewart is hitting .417 against LSC opponents (3-for-8) and has not made an error in 11 games behind the plate. Stewart has thrown out four runners attempting to steal, which is second in the conference and ninth-most in NCAA Division II.
Addison Lindemann leads the Mustangs pitching staff with 29 innings of work. The sophomore hurler has made five starts and been used in relief once this season. Lindemann has thrown one complete game and is 2-4 with a 5.55 ERA. Lindemann worked three innings and was the winning pitcher against St. Edward's on Sunday.
Sophomore
Kayleigh Bowers has made four starts in the circle and has six appearances overall for the Mustangs. Bowers is 1-2 with 12 strikeouts through 20 1/3 innings and threw a complete game in a 5-2 victory over Southwestern Oklahoma State on Feb. 9. Bowers has a 4.48 ERA.
Senior
Zoe Isom has made five appearances in the circle with three starts. Isom shut out Southwest Baptist, allowing just three hits in a 7-0 victory on Feb. 8. Isom is 1-2 with a 4.57 ERA.
Sydney Gonzales has made five relief appearances and has one save with a 1.24 ERA. Gonzales has allowed one earned run on five hits through 5 2/3 innings.
OKLAHOMA CHRISTIAN
Oklahoma Christian is 8-4 to start the season with a 1-3 conference record after getting swept at Angelo State and splitting a doubleheader with Lubbock Christian last week.
Grace Anderson is 4-1 with a 1.94 ERA in the circle for the Eagles. Anderson threw her fourth complete game and was the winning pitcher in the 8-4 victory over Lubbock Christian. The senior has allowed 31 hits over 39 2/3 innings with 44 strikeouts. Anderson also has two saves for the Eagles.
Jill Dickson is 4-2 with a 3.09 ERA for OC. Dickson has allowed just 26 hits through 31 2/3 innings and has recorded 38 strikeouts. Dickson has thrown two complete games. She went the distance in a 3-2 loss at Angelo State on Feb. 14.
Marti Yaerger is hitting .375 (12-for-32) for the Eagles and has nine RBIs. Yaerger has a .488 on-base percentage and has draw nine walks. Yaerger leads the team with four stolen bases on six attempts. The Eagles are 6-of-12 on stolen base attempts as a team.
Maci George shares the team lead with nine RBIs and is hitting .333 (11-for-33) with six doubles and a .515 slugging percentage.
Kate Paulsen, Karsyn Iltis, and Victoria Brazil have hit the three home runs for the Eagles this season.
The Eagles are hitting .299 as a team and have outscored their opponents this season, 55-45.
CAMERON
Cameron enters the week with a 3-5 overall record and is 0-4 in conference play.
The Aggies three wins all came in the Mustangs Round Up in Wichita Falls two weeks ago. Cameron defeated Fort Hays State (9-1), Southwest Baptist (13-5) and Northwestern Oklahoma State (6-4).
The Aggies will host West Texas A&M on Saturday before facing the Mustangs at McMahon Field.
Madison Boutwell is hitting .417 (10-for-24) for the Aggies with four doubles, one triple and two home runs. Boutwell is slugging .917 and leads the team with 11 RBIs.
Kaiden Boren is hitting .409 (9-for-22) with three extra-base hits, including one home run, and she has five RBIs for the Aggies.
Cameron is hitting .315 as a team but has been outscored by its opponents, 52-46.
Stormee Reed is 2-3 in five appearances with a 3.99 ERA in the circle. Reed has thrown four complete games and allowed 26 hits over 26 1/3 innings. She has recorded 29 strikeouts and walked 22 batters. Opponents are hitting .257 against Reed.
Tinley Schmidgall is 1-2 with an 8.14 ERA, allowing 30 hits over 16 1/3 innings. She has nine strikeouts with 10 walks.
Midwestern State returns home Feb. 28 to face Texas Woman's at Mustangs Park. The doubleheader gets underway at 1 p.m.
