CONROE, Texas --The Midwestern State Mustangs put together an admirable effort on Saturday, but ultimately came up short, losing to the Saint Martin's Saints by the score of 3-1.
Senior Zoe Isom (0-1) got the ball to start for Midwestern State (1-3) and took the loss. Sophomore Shyanne Florence was a bright spot for the Mustangs, coming out of the bullpen and throwing two shutout innings, allowing two hits, with no walks and one strikeout.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Mustangs got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the bottom the first inning with the game still scoreless. Senior Jessika Roberts came across to score the lone run of the inning for Midwestern State and get them on the board. The Mustangs were unable to hold the lead, as Saint Martin's scored three times over the remaining six innings to grab the 3-1 win.
