WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State makes its 12th consecutive and 20th overall appearance in the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship and is hosting Seattle Pacific in a second-round matchup on Saturday afternoon at Stang Park. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
Midwestern State (14-3-3) won the Lone Star Conference regular season title and claimed its fifth consecutive Lone Star Conference Men's Soccer Championship to earn an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. The Mustangs are the No. 4 seed in Super Region IV.
Seattle Pacific (12-4-4) is making its 37th appearance in the tournament after earning an at-large bid and is the No. 5 seed in the region. The Falcons won a share of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference regular season championship. Western Oregon scored a golden goal in the 102nd minute and defeated Seattle Pacific to win the GNAC Championship match.
The Mustangs and Falcons are meeting for the first time, and the winner advances to play either top-seeded Stanislaus State or the winner of the Western Oregon/Hawaii Hilo match. Third round matches are scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 30 at the home of the highest remaining seeds.
Midwestern State enters the tournament with a six-game winning streak and has shut out five opponents during that span. The Mustangs have posted clean sheets in eight of their last nine victories and in 11 games total this season.
Midwestern State is outscoring opponents this season, 38-15, and led the LSC with a plus-23 goal differential.
Parker Plaxco leads the Stangs and is second in the LSC with 11 goals and 27 points this season.

Cooper Tea have all scored five goals for MSU this season.

Liam Pritchard,
Jaime Villagomez and
Dereck Espinal all scored twice this season.
Plaxco leads the team with five assists, while Krchnak, Pritchard and Villagomez all have four assists this season. Midwestern State leads the LSC with 34 total assists.
Midwestern State leads the LSC in total points (110), total goals (38), total assists (34), shots per game (15.3), points per game (5.5), corner kicks per game (6.8), and assists per game (1.7).
The Mustangs are fifth among LSC programs in shot accuracy, putting 39.2 percent of their shots on frame. On the other end, MSU has the second-best save percentage in the conference at .792.
Goalkeepers
Jake Morris and
Daniel Robles have shared time this season, but Morris has started six of the last seven games for the Mustangs. Morris is 8-2-2 this season with seven shutouts and a 0.74 goals-against average. Robles is 6-1-1 with four clean sheets and a 0.76 goals-against average.
Seattle Pacific leads the GNAC with 45 goals and a goal differential of plus-23.
The Falcons have 11 players that have scored two or more goals this season, led by JJ Diaz, who has seven goals, including a hat trick in a 5-3 win over Western Washington in the semifinals of the GNAC Championship.
Orlando Erazo has six goals, while Cristian Chei Lara, Connor Tollan, Rafael Lucio and Brady Fendrich have each scored four.
Isaac Ketcham leads the team with five assists, and Luka Shriner has four for the Falcons.
Goalkeeper Brian Lanier started all 20 games for the Falcons and is 12-4-4 with a 1.10 goals-against average. Lanier has allowed 22 goals while making 74 saves for Seattle Pacific this season.
Kevin Sakuda is in his fifth season as the head coach at Seattle Pacific and the Duke graduate is 44-29-20 (.581) at the helm.
Michael Meachum boasts a record of 117-25-15 (.793) in his eight seasons as the head coach at Midwestern State.
Midwestern State is attempting to reach the third round of the NCAA Tournament for a third consecutive season.
