No. 1-ranked Midwestern State opened the season in impressive fashion with two resounding victories over Cal State East Bay and Colorado Mesa. Jose Ortiz scored four goals in a 5-0 win over the Pioneers at UTD Soccer Complex on Thursday night.  Then on Saturday afternoon, the Mustangs scored three goals in the opening eight minutes on their way to a 6-1 victory over the Mavericks. This week, the Stangs are headed for Colorado Springs to tangle with UCCS on Friday, and they will meet MSU Denver in a Sunday matinee at Mountain Lion Stadium.
