PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. — Midwestern State Women's Golf team finished in 7
th place during a competitive National Preview tournament held at PGA National Resort. In a tournament that featured nine nationally ranked programs, MSU finished 74-over-par (938). No. 3 DBU took home the team win, combining for a 904 team score (+40).
The Mustangs put together their best round of the tournament at the end, shooting a 311 on the final day. MSU were one of two teams with an eagle, while Midwestern State were among the top teams on Par 4s.Â
Mary Kerr was the top performer for the Mustangs, finishing 2-over-par in their final round, and leading to a +14 tournament to finish tied for 13
th. Kerr's final round featured four birdies, while limiting bogeys on a tough course. The sophomore finished seven strokes behind Florida Southern's Clare Gimpel (+7), who claimed the individual crown.
Alli Reily posted a 5-over-par final 18 holes, placing tied-24
th with an overall score of 234. Reily led the Mustangs with seven birdies.
Romane Lacoste, competing as an individual in the field, finished their final round with a 77, culminating in final score of 238 to finish in a tie for 37
th.
Emme Darnold posted their best round of the tournament (77) on the final day, finishing in tied for 39
th with a 239.
Madison Wert and
Kodi Nolen finished with a total score of 243 and 244, respectively. Wert landed in a tie for 49
th, while Nolen finished tied-52
nd.
Kaetie Samuels, playing as an individual, rounded out competitors for Midwestern State, posting a 84 in their final round, totaling a 251 in a tie for 58
th.
MSU continue their fall season in Pueblo, Colorado next week, playing in the NCAA II West/South Central Region Preview. The 54 hole tournament will take place at Pueblo Country Club from Oct. 13-14.
