WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State is hosting the Midwestern State Invitational at Wichita Falls Country Club and will be among 17 schools competing on Monday and Tuesday.
Midwestern State is coming off a tie for ninth place at the NCAA Division II West Regional Preview in Pueblo, Colorado.
Alli Reily finished in a tie for 14th place with a 10-over 152 at Pueblo Country Club, where the Mustangs finished tied for fifth with 15 birdies over two rounds.
Emme Darnold finished tied for 30th with a 13-over 155. Kodi Nolen, competing as an individual, finished tied for 38th with a 14-over 156.
Madison Wert and Romane Lacoste both carded 16-over 158s and finished tied for 54th place, while Mary Kerr shot 23-over 163.
Last year, Midwestern State finished in fourth place at the Midwestern State Invitational at 51-over 915 at the 54-hole event.
Reilly lost a one-hole playoff to Freya Sala of Southwestern Oklahoma and finished second after shooting 1-over 217 through three rounds.
Nolen tied for 23rd at 16-over 232, while Kerr shot 25-over 241 to finish tied for 50th.
Wert competed as an individual and finished 27-over 243, tied for 54th place.
Odessa College is the defending champion after defeating West Texas A&M and St. Mary's by one stroke at 35-over 899.
St. Mary's is in the field again this year along with Cameron, Texas A&M International, Lubbock Christian, Angelo State, UT Dallas, UT Perimian Basin, UT Tyler and No. 2-ranked Dallas Baptist from the Lone Star Conference.
Dallas Baptist is coming off a victory at the NCAA Division II West Regional Preview. Madison Ude won the individual title as the only player to shoot even-par in Pueblo. Ella Cheek finished third at 3-over and Gracie Grant tied for seventh at 7-over.
Montana State-Billings, New Mexico Junior College, McLennan Community College, Murray State and University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma are also in the field this week. Texas Tech will have four players competing as individuals.
Wichita Falls Country Club was the first course in North Texas to feature bent-grass greens, and D.A. Weibring designed the current layout in 2008. The course has tree-lined, Bermuda grass fairways.
The forecast is calling for sunshine with a high in the low 90s on Monday and a high of 78 degrees on Tuesday. Windy conditions are expected on Monday with a northerly breeze on Tuesday.
The Midwestern State Invitational is the final tournament on the fall scheduled for the Mustangs.
