WICHITA FALLS, Texas – After leading the Mustangs to consecutive shutouts and picking a goal and assist,
Mable Pruter has been named Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week, announced the conference office on Monday afternoon. Pruter earns the weekly honor for the first time in their career, and is the first for MSU Women's Soccer player to win defensive player of the week since 2021 (Alyssa Salinas, 10/25/21).
Pruter led the Mustangs defense, playing all 180 minutes over the two matches in a pair of shutouts. The Montgomery, Texas native, helped secure a home 2-0 victory against West Texas A&M. Pruter and the MSU defense held the Lady Buffs without a shot on goal, while assisting the final goal to seal the victory.
Three days later, Pruter marshalled a defense against Sul Ross State, winning 5-0. Pruter found herself on the scoresheet, scoring directly from a corner kick for MSU's fourth goal of the afternoon.
Midwestern State looks to continue its eight-game unbeaten run, playing St. Mary's in San Antonio on Wednesday night. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. from Sigma Beta Chi Field.
