WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Following a pair of conference victories,
Liam Kervick and
Davis Mays were named Lone Star Conference players of the week. Kervick claims offensive player of the week after two goal contributions, and Mays takes defensive player of the week after helping the team to two clean sheets.
Kervick, a junior from Waterford, Ireland, contributed to both of the opening goals in the victories. During the 2-0 win against UT Tyler, Kervick scored the game-winning goal, poking in a goal-line scramble in the 15
th minute. Three days later, Kervick set up the opening goal, with
Alan Rivera hitting the twine in the 12
th minute during MSU's 2-0 road victory over Oklahoma Christian.
Mays anchored the defense, leading to a pair of clean sheets over the two games. The Wichita Falls, Texas native played all 180 minutes over the two LSC games, with Mays leading in the backline. The Mustangs defense allowed just two shots on goal against UTT, then held Oklahoma Christian off the scoreboard for just the second time this season.
Midwestern State returns LSC play on Wednesday night, facing DBU in Dallas. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. from Patriot Soccer Field.
